Your Replacement Cell Phone Battery – Where Does It Come From?

There can be many reasons for your cell phone battery failing. It can be anything from not being properly charged, battery charger not working to battery having been on the shelf too long before being retailed. The real reason your battery fails may never be known, none-the-less your battery is bad and that is all that matters.

If your phone is still under warranty you can get a replacement battery from your local phone store, there should be no questions asked when it’s a warranty issue. Now all these batteries are returned back to the manufacturer and they check them. They find that up to 90 percent of these returned batteries have no defect or can be easily reconditioned.

The remaining percent can be fixed by reactivating the safety circuit with a program and cycling the battery by way of charging and discharging the battery. A very small percent of all these batteries can not be repaired.

These reconditioned batteries are repackaged and sold again at a discount. The amount of batteries that are returned is an expensive process for the cell phone manufacturers and they need to re-coupe their money somewhere and this is one of those ways. The batteries are still good, they are just slightly used.

Some local stores are now sending the batteries to a local battery restoring service and they do not have to deal with the extra shipping charges. When they get them back they are repackaged and used for customers with battery problems. This has the benefit of keeping things local and relieves the manufacture of warranty obligations for the batteries.

The restoring of batteries is not a difficult task and can be done by anyone at home. Only some inexpensive instruments are needed and instructions to teach you how. To learn about how to recondition your own batteries go to Restore Rechargeable Batteries. More than cell phone batteries can be restored, everything from a car battery to most rechargeable batteries can be done.
